The vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows is becoming a TV series on FX. New Zealand director Taika Waititi will be directing the series just as he directed the film. The plot of the show will be focusing on the lives of vampires that live in Wellington, New Zealand who will show the audience what it’s like to be a modern vampire during this day and age. If you haven’t seen the film it’s highly recommended you do so because it’s a great comedy film. Also, if you’re not sure what a mockumentary is, just think about anything you’ve seen from the TV show The Office because that’s what it basically is.
The trailer for the series is out now and the show is expected to premiere on FX this March. Since the film’s release in 2014, it has become a cult classic to a lot of fans so it’s very exciting that it will now have its own show that will star Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, and Harvey Guillen. The series is also being produced by Waititi and Jemaine Clement who was Waititi’s co-star in the 2014 film. This series isn’t the only thing that’s in development for this franchise either. There will be a sequel film that will follow the story of the pack of werewolves from the first film and another TV series that will follow the lives of the two cops from the first film and their run-ins with the supernatural in Wellington.
