Everyone has been talking and anticipating the return of our favorite offices Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett for many years. Since the release of the second film, Bad Boys 2, in 2003 everyone has been wondering when the third installment of the film would come. Many rumors over the years circulated from fans and from actors Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, Sony has confirmed a third Bad Boys film.
The first film, Bad Boys was released in 1995 and was the first film by directed by Michael Bay. The film had great commercial success with an initial budget of $19 million dollars, but earned well over that amount. The film stands with a 42% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Although critics weren't big fans of the film, it scored a 78% audience score and grossed over $65 million in box office sales.
In 2003, the sequel Bad Boys 2 was released and was again directed by Bay. In most cases the sequel of a film doesn't live up to the original, but I believe this one definitely rose to the occasion. The critics thought otherwise giving the film a 23% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience was on my side giving it a 78% rating. The sequel in my opinion had some of the best scenes and jokes. Such as the following chase scene, because it's one of my favorites.
If the third one is as action packed as the first two then it already gets a high rating from me. According to XXL Magazine, the release date for Bad Boys For Life is set for early 2020, so we have some time to process the great news. There was also detail of a plot released by Maxim, so I guess we will see how the production of this film goes. Fingers crossed that we will get the long await threquel that we've all been waiting for.
