Hey, Femm readers I’ve got a treat for you this evening as I share with you guys an interview I did with my friend, Morgan, who went to the Vampire Diaries con in Nashville, Tennessee. The Vampire Diaries used to be a tv show that was on the CW network that now features the shows Riverdale, The Flash, Super Girl, and Supernatural. The tv show focused on the lives of the three main characters, Elena Gilbert and Stefan and Damon Salvatore.
Elena lives in the town Mystic Falls, Virginia where after dealing with the death of her parents she discovers that the new kid in school isn’t what he seems. Her life soon becomes overrun with vampires, werewolves, witches, doppelgängers, hunters, ghosts, anchors, and the Originals. This show had seven consecutive seasons from 2009 to 2017. The series was very popular during its time that it even had a spin-off series, The Originals, that focused on the first family of vampires with Klaus and his siblings Rebekah, Kol, Elijah, and Finn. The cast of actors includes, but not limited to, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, and Claire Holt. Here is the interview.
Q: Where was the con in Nashville and how many days did it last?
A: The Vampire Diaries and The Originals Official Convention was hosted by Creative Entertainment in Nashville at the Music City Sheraton. It was three full days of nonstop fun!
Q: How much do the tickets usually cost?
A: Tickets ranged from $20 to $55 for single day admissions and $270 to $999 for weekend packages. The highest package was $999 for a first-row seating gold package. I paid for the next step below that which was the Gold package with preferred reserved seating. With this my Mom and I were able to sit in the 7th row, (still very good seats!), had free admission to the concert, were able to attend two Gold only panels, received 8 complimentary in-person autographs, and were let in first for most of the events.
Q: Did they raise any money for charity while there?
A: Convention Entertainment didn’t raise money, but the Ian Somerhalder Foundation had a table in the vendor's area! They were selling t-shirts, stickers, bags, jackets, calendars, books, and even items for your pets! They also had transportable water bowls and bow ties for cats. It was genius and adorable.
Q: Who was all there?
A: Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Claire Holt, Mathew Davis, Michael Malarkey, Nathaniel Buzolic, Micah Parker, David Alpay, Chase Coleman, and Nathan Parsons. Most of them starred on Vampire Diaries, but a few played major characters on the Originals.
Q: How many panels were there?
A: There were around 13 panels including the two Gold Only panels that we got to attend. Each one was led by audience questions. I personally got to ask many questions and it was very rewarding.
Q: Did they screen anything for the Originals season 5?
A: Sadly, no. Nathaniel Buzolic almost let something slip about a scene he had filmed and Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies teased the return of Candice King as Caroline Forbes. But no full details were given!
I will end the interview here and continue in part two. Thank you and see you all in the morning!
