Unconditional love is but a beautiful phenomenon, yet it is difficult to demonstrate at all times. It is inevitable to yearn for it. Love, as beautiful as it is should be treasured even though it does seem unfair because is not equally balanced with reciprocity.
It requires nothing, for it is granted under any circumstance. On the other hand, conditional love is full of requirements or “conditions,” which most relationships are based upon today. Because love today is assessed by giving, not necessarily with the heart, but with plastic and cash and valuables, it can easily be said that love is a “return on investment.” Hence, its opposite, unconditional love is becoming harder, less kind, and almost antiquated even though more that 80% of those who marry, marry for love. But…over half of marriages end up in divorce.
Based on those simple statistics it may be a result of unconditional love diminishing. Besides my own thought and some research, I decided to go to Venus and Mars for help. I asked them both if they thought unconditional love was still possible.
Their responses were are as follows:
Is unconditional love possible in relationships? Unconditional love is possible when it’s realized as this isn’t created or based on some merit system of requirements we create. Unconditional love isn’t temporal. Realization of unconditional love usually happens when the created love itself has been put to a real test knowing/unknowingly and your heart measure of love remains and even seems to increase involuntarily and possible without warning. This type of love controls the vessel – the person it resides in; not like conditional love where the vessel - person is in control of the love created.
Is unconditional love possible in relationships? Unconditional love is possible depending on the relationship that is developed.
If I develop a relationship that is on friendship terms, then that love can be unconditional because there will not be not any expectations from my friends.
If I develop a relationship that is on companion terms, there are expectations based on conditions that we set and put in place. If I’m being beaten, battered or mistreated, those are conditions that I won’t put up with. So yeah the type of relationship can determine unconditional love or conditional love.
Is There Hope?
Based on Venus and Mars unconditional love is still out there. Thank goodness! We still can believe in love a 100%.
