Hey Femm readers. I have a ballet performance I want to talk to you about this morning. The ballet was Peter Pan and it was done by a local ballet school; Northwest Florida Ballet Académie. The school has classes for students who want to focus on their dancing but also for any locals who want to learn classical dance as well. Every season the school puts on performances at various places in town. The main venue is the North West Florida State College arts center, Mattie Kelly Arts Center. The college has a great arts program and the center itself has attracted a lot of off-Broadway plays like Cats, Sound of Music, Grease, Dirty Dancing, and the one I was lucky enough to see, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. The local school also puts on The Nutcracker every Christmas season as well.
Peter Pan was a nice performance that had taken the school two years to create. They had their own original score written for the ballet and had their own choreography as well. This was also the first time they had done the ballet. You could see that they had put a lot of passion into their performance and how proud they were to finally show it to the local audience. It is a proud moment when your local peers come to see you perform. It was also a proud moment for us locals as well knowing how lucky we were to have the school and the arts center in our town. The dancers were beautiful with their moves and costumes. Nana was adorable crawling around on stage and playing with the Darling children. Hook’s performance was pretty funny as well. He did a good job of acting scared when he heard the ticking of the crocodile when it was close by. Overall it was decent, and it was definitely an eventful night for the school. That’s all for this blog post ‘til next time.
