Got another Sci-fi action movie promo for you guys. Vin Diesel has signed on to do a fifth installment of the Riddick series. Technically it’s the sixth if you count the horrible animated film, Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury. It has also been a tv movie as well. The new film will be called, Furia. This movie will focus on Riddick finally making it to his home planet Furia, but he has no clue about what will happen to him on the planet.
Surprisingly the series arch of him returning to his home planet and his origin/backstory didn’t occur until the third film, Chronicles of Riddick. The first movie was Pitch Black and was about survivors of a crashed spacecraft trying to survive on a dark planet with meat-eating aliens that hunted on scent and were injured by light. Riddick himself was on the craft because he was being transported to the jail on the planet Slam City. Riddick has a special ability to see in the dark and ends up being forced by the captain to be their guide.
The third film happens years later after Pitch Black. Riddick is still being hunted by mercs while he’s looking for the girl he saved on the dark planet known as Jack. He faces an even bigger problem from the Necromonger Empire trying to make it to their holy place while killing or converting all humans in the universe. When Riddick gets caught up in their plans he meets the elemental, Aereon, who tells him about his birth on the planet known as Furia. It was the Necromonger king that heard a profit about a Furyian killing him, so he wiped out the Furyian race for him to survive but somehow Riddick escaped this fate as a baby.
The 2013 film, Riddick, isn’t too important to the plot. In fact, it’s basically a repeat of the first film. It’s just okay movie wise but you should still watch it for the amazing action sequences and the fact that his friend and Guardians of the Galaxy co-star David Bautista is in it as well. Vin Diesel himself loves doing these films so much that he has said once that he would do them for free. As a Riddick fan myself I’m very excited to see this new film. That’s all for this blog post ‘til next time.
