If any fan of the Notebook has always wanted to go to the town and other spots in the film then here’s that chance. Despite the book being set on the coast of North Carolina, the filmmakers chose the city Seabrook, South Carolina that is an hour away from Charleston as the film’s setting. Despite this they mainly filmed in Charleston over Seabrook to remain accurate to the time of the book. They filmed the downtown spots of Seabrook in Charleston’s Mount Pleasant’s Old Village sections of King Street and chose several public and private spaces to have historically accurate settings for the film. These are the seven film spots fans can tour in the city of Charleston, South Carolina.
The seven spots fans should go see in Charleston include The American Theater, the Boone Hall Plantation, the Calhoun Mansion, the College of Charleston, Hight Cotton, and more. When Ellie leaves home to go to college in New York the campus fans are seeing is actually the Charleston campus. The Charleston campus is one of the oldest in America with its beautiful old brick buildings, old Spanish moss covered trees, and gardens. Other film spots and their connections to the film can be seen on this website. The city of Charleston is a very historic and beautiful city so even if one isn’t a fan of the Notebook the city offers a lot for travelers.
