No you are not too old to be excited about the Incredibles. I am not here to judge you. Let's be a little childish for a moment and fan girl/guy for Disney/Pixar's recent trailer release for The Incredibles 2. It has been over a decade since The Incredibles. One aspect that didn't exist at that time, and what was not necessarily apparent in the original, was an incredible movement of female empowerment. In part one, Mr. Incredible aka Bob Parr (voiced by Craig T. Nelson) was essentially called after years of hiding his superpower, reluctantly with a desk job, to save the city from massive terror. The whole family eventually joins to assist Mr. Incredible, thus the title, THE Incredibles. From what this year's trailer reveals, we see that Elastigirl (Helen Parr voiced by Holly Hunter) is called into action originally to create a more positive image for "Supers" aka super heroes.
It looks like the entire family including, new edition baby Jack Jack, and Frozone aka Lucius Best(voiced by Samuel L. Jackson). Honey Best (voiced by Kimberly Adair Clark), Frozone's wife returns with her snarky come backs that keep Frozone grounded. Scroll to the trailer below and watch look for about 2:10 to hear it. Violet, is still coming of age, possibly going through an intense bout of angry puberty. Edna, the creator of the Incredibles' costumes, will be in the film, this time creating a suit that will support baby JackJack's shape shifting and spontaneous combustion.
The original Incredibles film graced our eyes and ears on screen in 2004. Many of us were only children at the time, but now there are new babies growing up who might be wondering who the heck The Incredibles are in the first place. While I can appreciate a part two, newcomers may need to experience the first one. It would definitely be a convenience to possibly have part one to be re-released in theaters, as what was done for Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. Due to the power of the internet, however, the trailer is available to watch via Youtube (Click here to catch up: part one. The Incredibles.) Enjoy the trailer for The Incredibles 2 below!
