The Conjuring universe is being expanded further with their latest film installment, The Curse of La Llorona. This film stars Linda Cardellini, Raymond Cruz, Patricia Velasquez, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Tony Amendola. This film will be directed by Michael Chaves who is new to the directing scene. In fact, this is his first directing gig and he will be the one to direct the Conjuring 3 film that will come out next year. The film’s plot follows the story of a social worker named Anna and her two kids who ignore the advice of an insane woman suspected of child endangerment.
Soon they begin to be visited by a deadly spirit that wants to harm the family in any way she can. The spirit appears as a frozen looking bride that cries tears of black from her yellow eyes. In an attempt to save her family Anna meets with Father Perez in order to exorcize the demon out of her home. This film will be coming out sometime this April. Father Perez was also the priest in the Annabelle movie and in this new film he tells Anna about that demonic case. This shows how this new film is a part of the expanded Conjuring universe. The universe’s timeline is set during the 1960s and 70s with different cases happening throughout the years. This new film will be set in the year 1973 which is two years after the events in the first film.
