Good evening Femm heads. I hope you all had a pleasant day today. I’m here this evening to give you guys the scoop on the Ashland Independent Film Festival. The festival is from April 12th to the 16th and is in Ashland, Oregon. This festival has been put on by the Non-Profit group the Sothern Oregon Film Society since 2001. The AIFF has over 7,000 film lovers that travel to the Southern Oregon town to the Varsity Theater, the Ashland Armory, and other venues that will hold over 80 original independent films and short films. Film makers from all over the world go to the event to talk about their films after each screening.
The events at AIFF include the Opening Night Bash, AfterLounge, and the Awards Celebration where local wine, beer, and cuisine will be provided. The fest itself has had celebrity guests such as Ty Burrell, Albert Maysles, Barbara Kopple, Helen Hunt, and others. Tickets for AIFF are on sale now. General tickets cost $14, Senior (62+) tickets cost $13, and Students (with valid Ids) cost $6. They even provide a membership package as well. To go to the Opening Night Bash, you’ll have to pay $30 and for the Awards you’ll have to pay $75.
There are already 83 films and shorts a part of the lineup; ten of which that will be heading to theaters soon. One of those films is the Shia LaBeouf movie, Borg vs McEnroe, that focuses on the story of a 1980s tennis rivalry. The AIFF has been critically acclaimed by L.A. Weekly reporter, Ernest Hardy, The Oregonian newspaper reporter, Shawn Levy, and actress, Helen Hunt. If you’re a film lover, then this is definitely a place you’ll want to visit and spend time at.
