The 25th SAG (Screen Actors Guild) awards well be held this Sunday at 8 PM ET. The difference between this show and the upcoming Oscars is that these awards are voted by colleagues in the acting/film community and not what is known as the Academy. The show will air on TBS and TNT while being filmed live at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California. The show has only had two hosts in its entire run. Its first host was Kristen Bell back in 2018 and this year’s host will be Megan Mullally.
The live red carpet can be streamed on PEOPLE.com, EW.com, tntdrama.com, and others. Also, the red carpet event will begin at 5:30 p.m. ET. Several nominees this year include Emma Stone, Emily Blunt, Amy Adams, Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper, and others. There will be a total of fifteen awards that will be presented that evening. Furthermore, M*A*S*H actor Alan Alda who played Hawkeye Pierce will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Rami Malek is up for Best Actor after playing Freddie Mercury in Boeheim Rhapsody and Margot Robbie received a nomination for her role in Mary Queen of Scots. It’ll be interesting to see how this award show plays out and who the winners will be. It’s also interesting to see the nominations and who the wins could be compared to the Oscars. Because so far, there a few Oscar nominees who didn’t get nominated for a Sag and vice versa. Who knows maybe the SAGs will gain more popularity over the Oscars because its peers who are voting instead of the Academy.
