Today is jammed packed with events. The Royal Wedding is going on, the Preakness is happening, and the Cannes Festival will be ending and announcing the winning films; which I’ll share with you all tomorrow. With all the festivities and excitement, you might want to set your DVRs to record the wedding and the race. I’d personally watch the wedding events until it was time for the race. The best time to switch over is when they call riders up, so you don’t have to wait long for the race.
Need to know the times and channels for the events? Guests for the wedding will arrive at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle around 9:30-11a.m. GMT (4:30-6a.m. ET). The ceremony will be at 12 p.m. GMT (7 a.m. ET) and the carriage ride around Windsor will be at 1-2p.m. GMT (8-9a.m. ET). The time also changes depending on the news channel. NBC, CBS, and PBS will have coverage at 4 a.m. ET while ABC, Fox, and E! will start at 5 a.m. ET. The time of the ceremony also changes depending on where you are in the world.
The Preakness Stakes, the second horse race in the Triple Crown saga right after the Kentucky Derby and before the Belmont, will air on NBC at 2:30 p.m. while the NBC Sports Network will have coverage from noon ‘til 2:30 p.m. Justify, the winner of the Kentucky Derby, will be up against new horses and three horses he beat at the derby in this race. Will the big guy be able to win the second jewel in the triple crown? Could he go all the way? We’ll have to see how he holds up against well-rested horses who didn’t race in the Derby, but the odds are already looking great for Justify.
The Cannes Film Festival will be coming to a close this evening. If you want coverage for this event, you’ll have to check out news websites rather than any tv channel to see what’s going on. The best websites to follow would be the Cannes official website and IMDb.com under the Awards/Shows tab. I’m not sure when the winner of the Palme d’Or and other winners will be announced but I’ll inform you as soon as possible. Have a fun-filled Saturday.
