Hey, Femm readers and welcome back to my blog where this evening’s kind of relates to this morning’s blog post. I discovered an Airbnb that was open back in 2016 that is like the closest real-life Hotel Transylvania. This would be the Dracula Castle Airbnb that was opened for a contest Halloween night two years ago. The Airbnb’s host was none other than Dacre Stoker, you know the great grandnephew of Bram Stoker and the man I interviewed at Pensacon. To win the contest people had to write a 50-550-word creative story on what they would say if they met Dracula in his Castle.
The winner had to be around the age of 18 and could bring a guest around the same age to the Airbnb with them. The Airbnb was in Bran, Judetul Brasov, Romina. The Airbnb itself was a one bedroom, two beds apartment with one bathroom, essentials, and provided breakfast. Here’s how the webpage described the place, and I will leave a link to the website down below. Much like in the book and feature films a horse-drawn carriage will race up the road in the Carpathian Mountains towards the castle in the middle of the night as bats fly overhead and wolves howl in the distance. The ground will be covered with mist and the closer you approach the castle, the more you become filled with dread.
This house is the lair of the vampire and your home for the night; one you cannot leave until dawn. Your host Dacre Stoker will answer the door and show you to your room, only if you dare to enter that is. But what choice do you have when the night becomes darker than pitch and the sound of the growling wolves and squeaking bats draw closer. When you do enter the home please be sure to leave a little happiness that you bring. Your room will have two beds provided but upon entering your room you only discover two open coffins lay inside. It’s too late to run away now. You’re already here in the home as the howling of the wolves’ sound right outside the door. “Ah, children of the night. What music they make.” Once your host leaves you alone for the night, you begin to regret ever entering the contest as you both get the uneasy feeling you’re not truly alone. But wait! What’s that over there you see peering at you from the darkness?
A pair of red eyes and sharp teeth glistening in the dark. It’s the Count himself and he has come to greet you personally to his home. Will you convince him to let you live and get to enjoy the rest of your stay or will you perish before you can even draw your final breath? As he draws closer, you remember that he’s nothing like the cutesy Adam Sandler animation but a powerful creature of darkness who looks could stop your heart beating with one piercing gaze. Well, okay that’s not exactly the website’s word for word description. I just thought I’d put my own revamp to it. Pun intended. I wish this place was still opened to visitors. It sounds like the perfect trip for a Dracula and vampire lover. That’s all for this blog post, ‘til next time.
