Podcasters and their shows are finally getting an award show that will be hosted by iHeartRadio. A podcast is a video file that can be about anything whether it’s news, sports, entertainment, or anything the creator wants to focus on. Podcasting became popular back in 2004 and the name was created after iPod + Broadcasting =Podcasting. This new award show is called the iHeartRadio Podcast Awards and will be 90 minutes long. The show itself will be held at the iHeartRadio Theater in L.A. and will be hosted by The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne tha God and Stuff You Missed in History Class’ Holly Frey.
Some of the presenters for the show also include country radio host Bobby Bones, Lore’s Aaron Mahnke and Up And Vanished’s Payne Lindsey. There will be 22 categories, 17 of which listeners can vote on themselves. The other reaming categories and their nominees will be judged by a panel of iconic members of the Podcast community. The nominees for the show include Dirty John, Hardcore History, Radiolab, Serial, Slow Burn, The Daily, and The Habitat. Voting began yesterday on the iHeart Podcast Awards website and will last until January 6th.
