Today the 30th Palm Spring International Film Festival began. This festival will last for about two weeks and will end on the 14th. The festival is being held at the Palm Springs Convention Center and the screening proportion will run from the 4th to the 14th. Screenings will be held all day Friday at the Richard Center for the Arts and there will be an after party as well. The festival actually closes on the 13th with the films that made it to the Best Fest category will play on the 14th.
Some of the films that will be shown are All is True, The Accountant of Auschwitz, Amazing Grace, Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable, and more. The rest of the films can be viewed on the festival’s website. The film All is True is being done by Kenneth Branagh and will star himself, Sir Ian McKellen, and Judi Dench. Their film is about William Shakespeare’s life toward the end of his career where he returns home to his resentful family in Stratford-upon-Avon. The next film is about the trial of Oskar Gröning who was put on trial at the age of 94.
Amazing Grace is a film about Aretha Franklin during the year of 1972 when she recorded the best-selling gospel album of all time. The Hamilton movie is about the real-life surfer Bethany Hamilton who lost her arm to a shark attack when she was only 13 years. Losing her arm didn’t stop her from becoming a champion surfer, a wife, a mother, and a role model to people across the globe. As stated before the rest of the films and their descriptions will be listed on their website. As to when people can see these films outside the festival is not known at this time.
