This post is just to give kudos to the talented actor Ryan Reynolds, and he's pretty great to look at as well. This Canada born actor, producer, and screenwriter has been in the game since 1991. His first role was a teen drama on Nickelodeon called Fifteen, which originally aired in Canada on YTV with the title, Hillside. Before landing his first role in an American film he starred in many television shows.
Reynolds' first American film role was the 1996 film adaptation of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The aired on Showtime and was used as the pilot for the television series. In the film Ryan Reynolds plays Sabrina's love interest Seth. A few years later in 2002, he landed another large role starring in National Lampoon's Van Wilder. Taking the lead role as Van Wilder, Reynolds was able to secure more fans and more exposure with this romantic comedy. With a budget of $5 million, the film ended up being ranked number 6 in the domestic box office and bringing in $38 million in sales. Although the movie didn't win over critics the audience loved it and gave it a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
From that moment on, he went on to star in many films that I consider great movies. In 2005, he starred in the horror film The Amityville Horror, which was a great film and a great step outside his usual romantic comedy films. The movie started with a $19 million budget and made well over that earning $23 million it's opening weekend. Overall, the movie brought in $108 million in box offices sales, but it only received a 24% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The same year he starred in the workplace comedy, Waiting and the romantic comedy, Just Friends. He went on to land lead role in the films Smokin' Aces (2006), Definitely, Maybe (2008), and The Proposal (2009). He also gave his first introduction as Deadpool in the 2009 Marvel Comics film X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
His film resume continued to blossom with films such as Green Lantern (2011), Safe House (2012), R.I.P.D (2013) and they same year he did voice overs for the family films The Croods (2013) and Turbo (2013). In 2016, he started his hand in producing with the film Deadpool. The film eventually broke multiple records durin gopening weekend and was even the highest grossing R-rated film and was the second most profitable release of 2016. The movies film budget was $58 million and the film earned $783.1 million dollars in box offices sales. The film is also currently sitting on a 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and received an A in the CinemaScore audience poll. Ryan Reynolds has a lot of great films under his belt and will have another soon with the release of Deadpool 2 coming May 18. I just hope to see him in a few more horror films because it's long over due.
