Good morning you guys. I have news about how Marvel and Columbia Pictures have teamed up to release a stand-alone villain film that focuses on the Spider-Man villain, Venom. Venom is a creepy symbiote alien from space that ends up in New York who can take over anyone’s body with his weird black goo. This movie is set to come out next October. The actor, Tom Hardy, who will be playing the character, Eddie Brock, becomes infected by Venom. Other than that, the plot is unknown currently and according to an interview with Spider-Man star Tom Holland with CinemaBlend, this movie is completely outside the Avenger’s universe in the MCU. Holland admits that he will not be partaking in those films but says anything is possible over time. I find this to be strange because who will be the person to help stop Venom unless it focuses on Eddie himself trying to break away from the symbiote’s grasp.
As you all may recall from the third movie in the Toby McGuire Spider-Man franchise this is not Venom’s first on-screen appearance. Originally in that horrible film, Peter has found himself still struggling with hero life, college life, and his awkward love life with Mary Jane. Not to mention his long-time friend Harry Osborne discovering Peter’s alter ego and becoming his father’s own alter ego known as the Green Goblin. Oh, let’s not forget the sad incident of Sand-Man whom Peter discovered was the one who killed Uncle Ben instead the other guy from the first film. Things in that movie go from bad to worse as the plot slowly escalates to the very predictable last battle sequence. Once again Peter is challenged by his jerk of a boss J. Jonah Jameson in collecting photos for anti-Spider-Man articles; especially with the upcoming Eddie Brock competing against him. All this turmoil makes Peter despondent yet again much like in the second film.
Venom in this film at first takes over Peter’s costume making it go from red to black. At first, Peter doesn’t think much of it as he obtains new powers and a new “punk” attitude. The latest look just makes everyone cringe just by thinking of the uncomfortable “bad boy” walk with the weird strutting, finger pointing, and gross hair. Eventually, Peter discovers that this weird substance has caused him to change and after thinking he got rid of it, it only moved on to Eddie’s body. Eddie just happened to be by taking pictures to get his job back after Peter got him fired. With the symbiote taking over Eddie’s body he decides to get revenge just like every other villain in this stupid franchise by kidnapping Mary Jane and threatening to kill her and Peter. But once again they fight for a bit until Eddie does something stupid and dies by his own hands. Venom himself, however, managed to survive as a small sample of goo in Peter’s professor’s lab.
That’s the last we ever saw of Venom. Hopefully, in this film, they do Venom and Eddie Brock more justice. And have a better overall plot with better writing, acting, and action sequences; no offense to the original series. Growing up the series, besides the third, was awesome until you did grow up and looked back at how horrible they were; especially after having better films since Iron Man. When I first saw the quick trailer spot for this new film I was mainly excited that Marvel had completed its Tom trio. It has been an on-going joke between Marvel and D.C. fans how having a Chris or a Tom is like collecting trading cards. Marvel had the trio of Chris’s for a long time with Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, and Chris Hemsworth but failing to get Chris Pine who joined the D.C. cinematic universe. (D.C.
C.U) After Tom Holland joined the MCU people began to make the joke that we just needed one more Tom in order to have another awesome trio with Tom Holland and Tom Hiddleston. Fans joked that Tom Hardy and Chris Pine being apart of the D.C.C.U. but how Marvel had a better collection with it’s three Chris’s and two Tom’s. Fans also joked about Hardy “betraying” or being traded to Marvel as a hero or villain in order to complete the Tom set. Now we have that set and it’s pretty funny to some of us. I’ll catch you guys later for my next blog, bye! Also here's a link to the Hishe Spider-Man. https://youtu.be/HoNgMVFQNBI
