There’s a new historical fiction film coming out sometime this March. The film is called Aftermath and stars Kiera Knightly, Alexander Skarsgard, and Jason Clarke. The plot of the film tells the story about a British soldier and his wife moving to Hamburg, Germany during the post-war reconstruction after World War II. While there, they run into some problems with a German man who owned the house before. Both the British occupants and the local Germans still hold some prejudices against each other.
They both see each other as the army that bombed their homes and killed a lot of innocent civilians that got caught in the crossfires of the war. Some of the British soldiers and people believe they are doing what’s best by helping Germany recover from the war while the Germans do not. While stuck in this situation with her husband the wife that Knightly plays begin to have feelings for the German man who owns the house. The man that Skarsgard plays beings to have feelings for her too especially since he lost his wife on night during a horrible firefight. It’ll be interesting to see a film that focuses on the post-war reconstruction since there haven’t been many films on the topic.
