Pitch Perfect actress Rebel Wilson has a brand new movie coming out called Isn’t It Romantic. This rom-com is actually about Wilson’s character Natalie who used to love rom coms when she was little until her mother convinced her that real life wasn’t like that and girls like them never end up in that kind of relationship. This causes Natalie to grow up hating rom-coms believing they tell nothing but lies. After getting attacked by a man one day as she’s getting off the subway Natalie manages to hit her head really hard on a metal pole and no, she doesn’t wake up thinking she’s beautiful like in Amy Schumer’s film I Feel Pretty. Instead, Wilson’s character wakes up in an alternate universe that happens to be a rom-com.
Natalie has a nicer apartment, a better-looking job, a personal trainer who happens to be her gay best friend, and soon a man named Blake being played by Liam Hemsworth starts to fall for her. The funny thing is that Natalie discovers she’s in a rom-com and it’s rated PG-13 which allows making fun of rom-com tropes in PG-13 films like cutting to the next scene when something “risqué” is about to happen. Like when she tries to hook up with Blake it cuts to the next morning. The main questions are will Natalie make it back to her own world and what will being in this one teach her? This film comes out on Valentine’s Day 2019.
