Star Sci-fi creator Joss Whedon has teamed up with HBO on a new tv show known as The Nevers. Whedon directed Avengers, Avengers Age of Ultron, and has created popular shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. After HBO was bought out by AT&T it seems that HBO is expanding and rebooting its network. The show, The Nevers, tells the story of a group of Victorian women who discover that have unusual powers that attract the attention of several enemies and are given a mission to save the world. Creating a show with strong female leads is right up Whedon’s ally who’s been a big advocate in providing the female audience with girl superheroes rather than heroines who end up being saved by the guy.
Whedon is excited to get back into TV and is thrilled to have a show that has such an outstanding narrative being done on a channel he says to be excellent in cinematic long-form. Whedon even admits that it’s been a while since he’s had to build an entire fictional world from scratch. HBO also shares Whedon’s enthusiasm for the show and are proud that their network will be the platform for his show. The release date hasn’t been released yet nor has production for the project begun. Whedon has reported that he still has a lot of work to do before that.
