Earlier today, Netflix announced their multi-year deal with former first couple, President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama that is to include series, films and possibly documentaries and features. There has been no word on any release dates or what the first project may be and how much of the content will include the Obamas in front of the camera. Financial details have not yet been disclosed.
The Obamas have reportedly established “Higher Ground Productions” that they will use to produce content for the streaming service. There are plenty of existing films on Netflix that revolve around the Obamas. To name a few, a biopic based on Barack’s life in college titled, Barry was released in 2016 and Southside Be With You that is based on Michelle and Barack’s first date. Barack Obama made an appearance this year on the Netflix original “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” with David Letterman

Both Barack and Michelle have their own movements, which means there should be plenty of content to create over the next few years to be released on Netflix. While the two have plenty of appearances throughout the country and talks of books, Netflix will provide a platform, by which the Obamas may gain a wider audience by way of scripted and unscripted series.
