So, as everyone knows the weekend is a great time to sit on the couch and do nothing, if only for a day at least. My other day is spent cleaning my apartment, and getting all my errands done, but Sundays are for movies. What better place to find a movie, then Netflix?
Now I’m sure you’re thinking I spend more time scrolling through movies than I do actually watching them. Well, guys, that’s why I’m here to help make some recommendations so you can get right to the good part of hitting play.
This week’s find is a movie titled, The Open House. It’s a Netflix original film running a total of 1h 34m, and it stars Dylan Minnette and Piercey Dalton. The film was written and directed by Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote.
The film focuses on a widow (Dalton) and her son (Minnette) after the loss of her husband. Unable to afford the house they are currently living in, Naomi’s Sister offers them her cabin on a secluded mountain that she’s in the process of selling. The only caveat is they just need to be out of the house every Sunday for the open house.
On the first night, weird things begin to happen, from their neighbor to the west showing up, asking why they’re on the property to a strange truck, pulling into their driveway, and honking the horn, in the quiet mountain home.
It’s not till after the first open house, that things begin to happen inside the house. Things like the pilot light always going out while taking a shower, phones missing and weird phone calls that would make anyone question maybe someone stayed in the house after the doors were closed...
In my opinion, this is a film you should check out if you’re a fan of when a stranger calls or just scary movies. Though it may not be the scariest movie out there, it’s worth the hour and a half you’ll spend watching it.
