Punk rock band, Green Day's 2004 song, "American Idiot", is climbing in sales as a social media campaign has pushed it to appear on British top 100 in protest of President Trump's visit to the UK this Friday.. "American Idiot" has already reached number one on Google Play. Chart Data reports, Green Day's song re-entered the UK top 20. As of today "American Idiot" is in top THREE on UK iTunes.
The campaign sports the name: "Get American Idiot to No. 1 for Trump's UK Visit" and has been circulating on social media almost since the beginning of Trump's presidency. It began with a different name, ending with "state" visit, but the title was changed from a formal "State Visit" to "working visit". As the title insinuates, the social media based campaign is set out to advocate a musical, humorous, and peaceful protest against the harsh policies supported and put into place by President Trump. "American Idiot" was released in a trying American time, in the midst of the Iraq war and President W. Bush's second term.
The campaign calls for those interested to download, stream, or view on YouTube from July 6th through July 12th 11:59 p.m. The page posted the best ways to contribute:

This music protest is only one of many planned protests by Brits. Rallies expected to draw 50k protesters and a 20- foot blimp with Trump as a bare chested, diaper sporting baby might cause a bit of ruckus. Based off the current stats, it looks that every thing will go according to plan. For more information on the campaign, head over to "Get American Idiot to No. 1 for Trump's UK Visit" .
