I've decided to try and give all my readers a new up and coming actor/ actress to be on the lookout out for each week. The reason I would like to shine a light on any new talent whose name may not be known is simply because without the fresh new talent, what would the film industry be? Starting this topic series off I would like to highlight the talent of Billie Lourd. Born in Los Angeles, this 25 year-old actress began her career following her mothers footsteps.
In September of 2015, the show Scream Queens was aired on Fox. This was the first role that Lourd was seen in playing the role of Chanel #3. When the show premiered it roped in 4 million viewers, but as the series progressed they couldn't hold their attention. The show received a moderate rating of 69% on Rotten Tomatoes and their was a split consensuses of the show being "too tasteless for mainstream viewers and too sill for horror enthusiasts." From viewing the show myself, I believe that the consensuses had a valid point. The show was a bit too quirky for it to be seen as true horror.
Prior to being cast for Scream Queens, Lourde had already filmed her first filmed that was released December of 2015. Her role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens was her first minor role in a large film. Acting alongside her mother Carrie Fisher, who portrays Princess Leia, Lourd plays the role of Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix. Although the role started off as a minor role by the next film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, it was much larger. Before the release of The Last Jedi in December of 2017, we caught her on another great TV show, American Horror Story: Cult. Her role as Winter Anderson was amazing and made the story line come so much better. This being the seventh season of the FX horror anthology series American Horror Story the generation of viewers was more difficult than seasons before. The season ended with some low rating of viewers per episode by the end of the season.
I believe she's on to great things and I hope to see her in some more major films. I think it would be great to see her in some thrillers or horrors movies in the future.
