For anyone who has access to Viceland, I would like to drop this gem on you. Gaycation is a television documentary that follows Ellen Page and Ian Daniel (her best friend). As they travel place to place they meet different people and explore the LGBTQ culture. The two travel to different cities such as: Orlando, New York, and even France to talk to people in the LGBTQ community in order to get their different perspectives.
The duo even travel to different countries to learn how those within the LGBTQ are treated in comparison to the US. Within the first season they explored the traditions within Japan, Brazil, and the USA. In episode four the two travel to Iowa and ended up in a intense debate with presidential candidate at the time Ted Cruz. The clip of the two going back and forth ended up going viral and got close to 500,000 views. Ellen Page shows an extraordinary passion to protect those within the LGBTQ community and it's amazing. Here's the showdown between her and Ted Cruz.
The show peeked my interest only because I've been a fan of Ellen Page since Juno. I wish I would have known about the show when it was first released in 2016 but I'm definitely glad I found it. Ellen Page uses this show to show her true personality as she speaks up for a community who have been trying to be heard for years. The shows that not only is she an award winning actress, but also a passionate activist and even had her hand in executive producing the show Gaycation.
I haven't gotten through the first two season yet, but so far the show has been great. There's so many different elements that you can learn about watching this show. There is no word yet for the renewal of season 3, but I definitely recommend the show to anyone looking for something interesting to watch.
