The late Chester Bennington of Linkin Park will be featured in a new song and album coming from the band Lamb of God’s guitarist Mark Morton. Morton was the one who got in contact with Bennington about writing and recording the song “Cross Off.” The song was recently released and is the second single to be dropped from Morton’s debut single album titled Aesthetic. This new album will be coming out on March 1st but the new lyric video for the song can already be seen online. This song had been recorded by Morton and Bennington back in April of 2017.
The song and album was produced by Josh Wilbur. Morton recorded all the guitar sessions for the album while bandmates Paolo Gregoletto and Alex Bent played bass and drums. When working on some of the lyrics Morton and bandmates were trying to decide who could record the vocal part of the song when Morton thought of Bennington. At first, the group thought there was no way they could get Bennington because of how big of a name he was. But they decided they should at least try and were surprised and honored when Bennington said he wanted to collab with them.
Morton talked about what it was like working with Bennington during an interview with Metal Hammer magazine. Morton explains that he was surprised how humble Bennington was during their work together since people that are usually on his level forget about their humility. Also, this was the first time Morton had every worked with Bennington and from the very beginning Bennington had put in a lot of creative input into the song. After working on the song for a while they began to talk about real life things together and began to really enjoy each other’s company. Morton had even found out that Bennington loved the song already when Morton’s people contacted him.
