In light of Janelle Monae's recent "coming out" as "pansexual", her video, "Dirty Computer" was recently released. The "emotional picture" TRT is just under an hour. It expresses her sexuality, social and cultural experiences the masses can easily identify with. It is described as a narrative film, accompanying music album. In other words, it seemed to be somewhat of a visual album structure.
The film is a "what if" we were all deemed "dirty computers" that needed to be cleansed of memories. It is a futuristic take, but has old school elements to it, such at a Prince-esque song and visual.
Tessa Thompson portrays Monae's love interest and makes multiple appearances through out. In the second song, her lyrics are heavy on what seems to be the #MeToo movement. There is bold yet subtle imagery that is sure to leave people thinking and possibly a little perplexed. Check out the video here: (JANELLE MONAE'S DIRTY COMPUTER)
