When we were younger we would often find ourselves participating in a friendly game of tag. The film Tag, takes viewers down memory lane as a group of friends take the childhood game to a new level. The comedy film could be a great debut for director Jeff Tomsic to step into the industry. Old friends Hogan (Ed Helms), Jerry (Jeremy Renner), Bob (Jon Hamm), Randy (Jake Johnson), and Kevin (Hannibal Buress) have been playing the same game of tag for 30 years. You may be thinking, “who would come up with something like that”, but the film is actually based on a real friendship.
A few years ago, CMO of Nordstrom Brian Dennehy sat down with Wall Street Journal for an interview. During which he described how he and his group of friends used the childhood game to keep in touch. For years they dedicated the month of February to stop at nothing to tag someone no matter when or where. If you ask me, a story like that is great comedy in the making and deserves to be on the big screen. Dennehy stated, “Players get tagged at work and in bed. They form alliances and fly around the country. Wives are enlisted as spies and assistants are ordered to bar players from the office.”
With the a no rules game, everything is on the line during the month of February for these friends. Now that the undefeated player, Jerry, is getting married those who are “it” will stop at nothing. The film is set to be released on June 15 and I believe it be worth the trip. If this isn’t on your “must see” list, I definitely recommend seeing it. Here’s the trailer just to get a preview of what’s to come during this game of tag.
