Good morning my dear Femm readers. This morning I will be promoting the new Hotel Transylvania 3 film, Hotel Transylvania: A Monster Vacation. The first two movies were hysterical with comedic lines being delivered by the talented Adam Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade, and Steve Buscemi. Other actors include Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, Fran Drescher, Molly Shannon, Mel Brooks, and Keegan-Michael Key. The new movie is expected to hit theaters this summer on July 13th.
The first film focused on Dracula and the relationship with his daughter Mavis. After losing his wife to a tragedy, Dracula decides to build a safe place not only for his daughter to live but other monsters as well such as zombies, werewolves, Frankenstein’s monsters, skeletons, the Invisible Man, and many more. Dracula’s daughter soon becomes 118 years old and wants to leave the hotel to experience the outside world. Only, the outside world finds her first when the human boy Johnny stumbles upon the castle. At first, Drac is against Johnny being anywhere near his daughter until he confides in him and realizes that the two had fallen in love.
The second film focuses on Mavis and Johnny getting married at the beginning of the film and having their first child, Dennis. Dennis grows up at the hotel for five years but hasn’t experienced much of the outside world much like Mavis. After his werewolf cousins get too rowdy around him to the point of almost injuring him, Mavis thinks it would be better if he grew up back in Johnny’s hometown since he’s more human than monster. Not wanting to lose his daughter or grandson, Dracula takes Dennis on an adventure to hopefully unlock his vampire side. Meanwhile, we learn how humans and monsters are beginning to get along to the point of hanging out with each other and starting relationships. However, Dracula’s father Vlad isn’t too keen on this idea until he learns that his original beliefs keep him from seeing Mavis, Johnny, and Dennis, whom he rarely sees in the first place.
Now the new film focuses on the family growing and the fact that Dracula needs a vacation. How is the family growing? Well, like most parents have experienced with their own kids, Dennis asks for a puppy. His parents say no, but Dracula says yes. With the new dog around giving Dracula more family responsibility and work to do, he begins to become overworked and stressed out. Mavis surprises her Dad with a family vacation on a monster cruise ship and of course, the gang can’t help but come along. But while on the trip, Dracula soon falls in love with the ship’s Captain, Erika.
Mavis becomes the overprotective parent this time and has a bad feeling about her and with good reason. She’s the descendant of Abraham Van Helsing enemy and monster hunter of all monsters. Will Erika get away with trying to kill Dracula and the rest of the monsters on her ship or will she understand that monsters are no longer bad and fall for Dracula’s charm and wit? I’m not sure, but I’m excited to see this new addition to the series. Erika is being voiced by actress Kathryn Hahn. Hope you guys enjoy this blog post ‘til next time.
