Work, work, work! Working hard, hardly working, or whatever kind of work we do is work. But does work have to be monotonous, boring, difficult and always feel like “work?” Can’t it be fun at your own leisure? Maybe or maybe not? What do you think?
Many agree while some disagree. While work is necessary to survive and acquire sustenance, it does not have to seem like torture as many of us dread waking up in the morning to go to work. It has been said that following your passion may be the solution to having a fulfilling and rewarding career. It is for many of those who abide by that rule as they have succeeded, not only because they enjoy their work, but because they believed in the dreams and took action.
Although following our dream is possible, many fear it. Most who are employed have a preconceived notion that comfort is better than discomfort. What is familiar to us we adhere to it. What is not we distrust and flee from it. But, either way, the truth is anything is possible.
When it comes to choosing a career we have the ability to boldly accomplish what we truly want because we are natural born leaders. It matters very little what position we hold. We do not have to be the president, a CEO, or a congresswoman. We control our daily lives as innate leaders. According to a seminar (2010) conducted by Jim Senn, the Director for Global Business Leadership at Georgia State University stated that leaders make things happen; hence we can be anything when choosing a career.
It is not to say that a 9-5 job is forbidden, but simply that opportunity exists within us. For instance if we are an extraordinary artist, writer, chef, etc. we should not be a clerk our entire career. Instead we should explore the possibilities of our dream. In conclusion, if we are forever spending much time complaining about our daily jobs, then we need to delve into our psyche and find a new journey that yields to happiness; it is possible.
