Okay this last film I want to talk to you guys about that will be coming out this March is the film, Ready Player One. This movie is based off the book, with the same title, by Ernest Cline. The book is a Si-Fi dystopian novel set in the year 2044. The film is being done by the iconic, Stephen Spielberg, and will be coming out March 29th. In fact, when I first saw the trailer I had a feeling it was a Spielberg film and was excited that my accusation was correct. Typically, I personally don’t like Si-Fi films but this one looks amazing and Spielberg is bound to deliver yet another masterpiece.
The story follows a young boy named Wade Watts who lives in an environmentally destroyed world where people cope by playing virtual reality video games. The game that everyone plays is called, Oasis. After the game’s creator, James Haliday, dies he leaves a message about a hidden Easter egg in the game that essentially his billion-dollar fortune. Whoever finds it first wins the money. Now the character Wade is your typical poor outcast that goes on the hero’s journey to search for the egg with everyone else for about five years. Soon people lose hope of ever finding it until Wade discovers the first clue that leads to the egg. This causes excitement for people again as they all log back onto the game to continue the race for the prize. However, the gamers face opposition from competing corporations who will go to any lengths to keep the fortune out of the public’s hands.
This film is bound to be a box office success and will be another jewel in the dystopian book to movie crown along with other series such as The Hunger Games, Maze Runner, and the Divergent series. Thankfully though, this film does have some new elements to it that make it stand out from the crowd. This time the world is environmentally destroyed with no strange illness or other elements of the like.. I hope to see it when it comes out and hope you guys will too. See you for the next blog bye!
