A few weeks ago I seen a commercial for a new tv series that would be releasing on FX. I was skeptical about how the series Pose was going to turn out, but after it’s premier a few days ago I was pretty much intoxicated. The series takes place in 1987 New York and every element of it had me all in. Creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Steven Canals have done a great job with the aesthetics of the of the show from the costumes to the music. The show from the pilot episode takes you to their world and you start the process of connecting with the characters.
The show follows Mother Blanca Rodriguez (MJ Rodriguez) as she leaves House of Abundance to establish her own. As she begins to establish her own family as the House of Evangelista, she forms a rivalry with her former mother Elektra Abundance. Just when you think the series can’t pull back a new layer it does. The show made me feel almost every emotion in just one episode. Every cast member in the show definitely brought their “A” game.
Many people have been calling the show “a love letter to the trans community” and it’s not too off. The show highlights many of the ups and down of the LGBT community during that era and put a great spot light on drag balls. The true culture of drag beginning with this and I can’t wait to see what else the show has to offer. The show is set to have 7 episodes in the season and I will be in front of the tv for all of them. If you haven’t heard of the show check out the trailer and be sure to tune in to FX next Sunday at 9pm. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/think/amp/ncna879661
