England has already reached a historical milestone year with American be wed to a royal but a biracial American: Prince Harry and Princess Meghan Markel. Many people will agree that this is a progressive step to have happened for England and now another step towards the future will be happening soon. Queen Elizabeth’s third cousin, Lord Ivar Mountbatten, will have the first royal same-sex marriage with his partner James Coyle. Even though he’s only a part of the extended family he still counts as a first to come out and have a same-sex marriage.
Ivar is the great great great grandson of Queen Victoria who came out about being gay back in 2016 and is the first royal officially come out as a bisexual. In fact, he was married to a woman named Penny, whom he had three daughters with, back in 1994. He told her before they got engaged that he is bi. The two of them divorced back in 2011 after being married for 16 years.
It was Penny’s and Ivar’s children that suggested she should be the one to give away her ex-husband at the wedding; which Penny agreed would be a touching moment for them. The extended family has even reached out to Ivar and James and has given them their blessing. Unfortunately, the Queen, Ivar’s lifelong friend Prince Edward and his wife, and other members of the extended family can’t make it to the wedding due to their busy schedules. The wedding will be small with close family and friends only. There will be only 120 or so people who will join them at the reception.
