Final Space isn't your typical outer space saga. The setting is in futuristic space, in a time where earth has advanced eons beyond the technology and space travel that we have now. With new alien species and AI magic or is that mutation, powers and laser guns. Pretty typical stuff that we can all comfortably sink our teeth into. What makes it unique our motley crew.
And the plot, there is also the plot, the story telling and world as well as character building. Before I get into the characters the introduction to the show is pretty amazing as introductions go. It's basically showing us a large space ship wreck. We see lost souls, androids, life forms destroyed by the ravages of the vacuum of space and the wreck that brought them there and finally a lone survivor in a red space suit drifting amongst the wreckage. H.U.G.H., his AI tells him that his suit is compromised and he has minutes to live. While our protagonist, whom we learn is named Gary, thinks about his life and how he got here.
Not much is really disclosed to us about our protagonist, Gary, or his life. We just know that he is where he is due to love of the intelligent and insanely hot, according to Gary, Quinn. Who Gary attempts to impress. His attempts backfire so hard he ends up in jail. After a fews years serving his sentence in the void of space Mooncake, a planet destroyer, ends up on Gary's ship. Propelling Gary into a life of adventure. Due to Mooncake's arrival he meets Avocado an assassin who is on a quest to save his son. Kevin, Gary's insanity prevention robot and makes an enemy the Lord Commander, a tyrant who wants mooncake.
All and all the show is pretty good. The dialogue is pretty funny but also can get pretty deep and intense for an almost 20 minute run time of show. I'd say it's worth giving it a shot.
