Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty is a force to be reckoned with in any industry. She has collaborated and worked on several campaigns with top designers. Let’s talk about how started out as a pop star and has transformed into a fashion powerhouse.
She was born on February 20, 1988 on the small island of Barbados. She sang for Jay Z in his Def Jam office and was signed to a six album deal. Rihanna’s next four studio albums all went platinum. Her songs Disturbia, Take a Bow, Only Girl (In the World), S&M, Diamonds, We Found Love, and Stay have joined Umbrella in the ranks of the world’s best-selling singles. She is the youngest solo artist to reach fourteen number one hits and has done it faster than anyone else. Rihanna has won eight Grammy awards and has a net worth estimated at $230 million.
She started out with a collection for River Island in 2013 along with designer Adam Selman. Rihanna was named the creative director of Puma in 2016 and her collection was flying off shelves in stores and online in less than an hour. Her debut at fashion week was fun, edgy, and rebellious in true Rihanna style. Her Fenty slides were the most wanted shoe of the summer. Rihanna unveiled an all-denim collection with Manolo Blahnik consisting of strappy sandals and thigh-high boots. In April 2016, Rihanna unveiled her third collection of Stance socks, comprised of 19 styles ranging from cute ankle socks to thigh-high stockings.
Rihanna was announced as the spokesperson for Dior and soon followed that up with a campaign for the brand's Secret Garden collection. Rihanna has collaborated with Dior on a range of sunglasses simply named, Rihanna. Rihanna has six perfumes bearing her name: Reb'l, Reb'l Fleur, Nude, Rogue, Rogue Man and the newest to the collection, RiRi. Surpassing other celebrity perfumes, Reb'l was reported to have made $80 million in its first year.
She is the true definition of a renaissance woman. She refuses to fit into a box and lets all her creative juices flow freely. I’m here for whatever Rihanna decides to wow us with next.
