Let’s talk Deadpool 2! The sequel to our favorite merch with a mouth movie will be coming out this May; the same month as Infinity Wars. There’s bound to be plenty of fourth wall break crossover talk about this; especially since actor Josh Brolin plays Thanos in Infinity Wars and Cable in this new movie. The best cross-over reference would be how both Thanos and Deadpool are in love with Lady Death and the only way Thanos could technically overcome material rights would be having the same actor play a different villain in the Marvel-Fox universe; so, they can fight for her love.
Now I honestly have no clue what to expect in this movie because so far, the trailers and the plot summary are just spoofs they’ve done without telling us much about what’s going to go down. All I know is that the old characters Vanessa, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Weasel, taxi driver Dopinder, Colossus, and Blind Al will be returning for the film. As far as anything else I know Cable is from the future and ends up in Wade’s time to fight him, which Deadpool isn’t impressed by at all. In fact, he mocks the writers for it. The only other thing I know is that there will be fight scenes, explosions, fourth wall breaks, dirty humor, and of course Cap’s least favorite, the language.
If you don’t know much about Wade I can break it down for you. Now first off, we are going to completely ignore Deadpool’s existence in X-Men Origin’s: The Wolverine, okay? Seriously though if you watch it you’ll see why it’s bad and if you already know Deadpool then that makes it worse! I only bring it up to mention the Weapon X program that’s in the MCU from X-men two, the origins, and Deadpool. Basically, these mad scientists would either kidnap someone, hire someone, or trick them into being there so they could test to see if they had the X-gene in them; or rather if they were mutants. The tests were beyond cruel, killing dozens upon dozens of innocent lives. This is because the X-gene typically stays dormant until puberty or until something stressful happens to the person’s mind or body. Because of this, the scientists would do anything to stress the body to unlock the gene.
They would try things like putting the body through temperature extremes, drowning them, and just about any other torture you could think of. If you already had the X-gene active in you then they would basically try and make it more powerful or combine things with it. Like Logan, the Wolverine, had a healing factor, tracking, and bone claws that came out of his knuckles before Weapon X. Afterwards his full body skeleton became covered in a powerful metal known as Adamantium. This made Logan stronger, he didn’t have to worry about waiting for broken bones to heal, and he now had mini knives to slice someone to bits. But enough about him let’s talk about Wade Wilson.
Wade used to work for a small assassin ring where he could be hired by someone to go kill or threaten to kill whomever his employer desired. Originally in the comics, Wade only killed people he believed deserved to be killed. *Note: he thought this before Weapon X. In the short run, Wade falls in love with a woman named Vanessa and for a while life goes pretty great for him. That is until he finds out that he has stage 4 cancer throughout most of his body. Wade feels hopeless and goes to a bar to clear his mind one night after talking about his slim options with Vanessa. When there he meets a guy, who somehow knows he has cancer, and offers him to join Weapon X because they could possibly cure him. Seeing how he had little options in the first place he agreed. However, he didn’t tell Vanessa about it; probably because he didn’t want to get her hopes up too high. I will continue in a part two for this evening.
