Hey, Femm heads! I’m back and I have another Marvel movie promo for you. We have a new younger X-Men movie coming out this November. When I say younger X-Men, I mean the James McAvoy timeline. This film is X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The mutant known as Phoenix/ Jean Grey has the power of telekinesis like Professor Xavier but not as strong. This is only because her alter ego is being blocked by psychic barriers put up by Xavier when she was young. These barriers were damaged when Jean tried to use Cerebro to find the mutant Rouge. Later her powers become stronger to the point where she ends up having to save everyone on the X-Jet while she erupted in flames and drowned in a tidal wave in the second original film.
The third film is the first time we see Phoenix, who we discover is an uncontrollable level 5 mutant with very deadly powers. At the end of the film, Jean breaks through her alter ego and begs Logan to kill her; which he does since he’s the only one who can’t be injured by her. That was the end of her in the original series. I haven’t seen Future Past or Apocalypse, so I don’t know what happened in those films with the character, however, this is what the new film is about. Jean begins to fall victim to the rise of the Dark Phoenix to the point where the team must decide if the life of one mutant is worth risking the safety of the world.
What’s the difference between Phoenix and Dark Phoenix? Well, in the comics Jean channels her powers from the being known as Phoenix and uses them for good. She becomes Dark Phoenix when the power corrupts her. Dark Phoenix is powerful enough to be like a god but is too evil. I’m not sure how much they’ll stick to the comics for this film or not, so we’ll have to wait and see when it comes out on November 2nd. This film will be staring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Tye Sheridan, and Sophie Turner as Jean Grey. That’s all for this blog ‘til next time.
