Rock star Steven Tyler has opened a new house for abused girls to call their safe haven in Tennessee. The house is called Janie’s House which is based off his song, “Janie’s Got a Gun” where the girl in the song takes drugs to overcome the abuse delivered by her father. The facility was built in Memphis where Tyler arrived on Monday for the scarf cutting ceremony. Tyler had spent time at another treatment center before and he reports how it really opened his eyes to the victims of abuse. During his visit, he learned that the women there had been abused physically, verbally, or mentally and 90% had suffered all three types of abuse.
After the visit, he put all of his emotions from that experience into the song mentioned above. Tyler even created the Janie’s Fund back in 2015 that helps raise money for abused women. For this project, the fund donated $500,000 to help build the house. The fund also helps to bring awareness to women and children who have suffered from abuse and the house helps the victims with their recovery. This specific facility will be operating from a nonprofit organization known as Youth Village located at the town of Bartlett.
