Good evening F.E.M.M Fam! If you were looking for something to work out your nostalgia throwback muscles, the cast for the confirmed Charmed reboot is slowly rolling out.
So far, Madeleine Mantock, has been confirmed as Macy (as of a few days ago), Sarah Jeffery will portray Madison and Melonie Diaz (Fruitvale Station) is to portray Mel. Rupert Evans, has been cast as “a professor with a strange fascination with the sisters. Ser’Darius has been cast as Gavin, Macy’s love interest. ![]()
I wondered why these names were so different from the original sisters, Pru Piper, and Phoebe (eventually Paige). I also wondering if it will still be about the three sister’s hunting and destroying demons. When they said reboot they weren’t kidding. The description of the characters don’t seem as cohesive as the original sisters, but their abilities are similar to the originals: one sister with the power of telekinesis, power to freeze time, and power to hear thoughts. (in order, Macy , Mel, and Madison)
It seems the directors were going for a more diverse look, included a cast of a wider variety in ethnicity. Perhaps they felt new times, new people, new story line? Of course, diehard fans may be a little skeptical about watching a charmed without the original cast. I am the type to try everything once before totally shooting it down. The show is said to be based in a college town, which gives off the vibe of the school girls of The Craft, but present day. Charmed veteran, Holly Marie Combs (Piper Halliwell) took to Twitter, expressing her discontent with the idea of the reboot. Saying the reboot disregards her and the other original cast members’ hard work. Fans are not liking this idea either, going so far as starting #StopCharmedReboot on twitter, demanding the original cast be a part of the reboot. A petition was posted to Change.org to stop the reboot. So far there are only 2,487 supporters of the petition. (Interested? Sign the petition here) Is this enough to stop it? Or will CW move forward with their plans of a total reboot? Find out, on the next episode of…Just kidding the reboot is pretty much confirmed. A release date is not yet confirmed, however, it will be sometime this year on CW, according to IMDB. If you aren’t ancient like me, you probably don’t remember the original Charmed. For those of you who are a little foggy on the series. See the quick synopsis below: The original “Charmed” ran for eight seasons on the WB (now the CW) from 1998 to 2006. The series starred Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Shannen Doherty (and later Rose McGowan) as three sisters, known as the Charmed Ones, who use their witchcraft to fight off forces of evil. The show was produced by Aaron Spelling. - The Variety.com If you would like to join the conversation, the original series is available for streaming on Netflix and here's a short clip below. Til next time!
