Books are a great place to escape reality. There is nothing more exciting than opening to that first page and getting lost in the words before. A sea of untold stories lies on the shelves at your local book store, or at the amazon warehouse. Wherever you get your books from, there is one thing in common each book tells a story, each page has a special sound as you flip to the next. It’s magical.
I bring this up, because recently I read a certain book, that told a story and it has stuck with me. It has followed me, and I believe I read it for a reason. The book name: Release Written by Patrick Ness.
The one thing that drew me to this book is that it was LGBT, the main Character was gay, and he lives with a preacher for a father, so trying to keep that a secret was hard for him. Which is something I can resonate with. I also believe that LGBT stories should come to the front, and not be hidden by what society calls normal.
So, the book focuses on the character, Adam Thorn, and takes place over one single day. Things go wrong, as his best friend tells him news that she’s being sent off. An unidentified Spirit takes the body of a girl and begins to cause chaos as the battle for life and death begins to take place.
This story was an easy read and kept me intrigued from page one. This is a book I really recommend checking out, as it one not to be missed.
If you have read it, let me know what your opinion on the book is!
