Art is a medium that can be defined in an array of terms, yet the best qualifying definition for it is: art is life. It goes beyond a one-point perspective picture, ice sculpture, mosaic painting, and other means of art. Art stems from many masterminds that have unleashed their expression at their greatest potential to enlighten many with a mark of creation at its best.
Behind desolation was the power of man’s mind to create. Within the power of his or her mind, vision and imagination brought forth ideas, thoughts, and beliefs that led to developed empires and dynasties and even music, such as in Africa, China, and India. These many creators of these developments can be accredited and titled as “divinely gifted.” They also can be responsible for enhancing sight and sound and contributing it to inspire the world. Restated, art is life.
Without it life would be a meaningless dark abyss waiting for it to transpire. We would definitely miss out on the many minds that paved the way by developing cities, artifacts, and styles of writing like the Toltec, Maya and Aztec civilizations. We also would not be able to appreciate artists of the 20th and 21st century such as Jean-Michel Basquiat (neo expressiontist) and Kara Walker (contemperary artist) that assited in embellishing the world with beauty through imagination. Dynamic minds are owed recognition.
Furthermore, next to the magnificent mediums that have made us react in awe have also devised us to recognize symbolism. For instance, through precious stones and metals, symbols of love, wealth, prosperity, etc. can be brought to life in forms of color and shape. For example, and a heart-shaped love quartz can signify love. Art is something that not only gives us something to look at and have an opinion about it, but it impacts us with feelings, emotions, and understanding; it is enlightening to the mind. In all, it is life’s endless creation.
